Interior Designer in Newton, MA
Newton homes have a lot to work with — generous rooms, good light, and architecture that ranges from Victorians in Newton Centre to mid-century houses in Waban and newer builds in West Newton. The challenge is rarely the house. It's making the rooms inside it feel warm, finished, and like they belong to the people living there.
I'm Amalia, a certified interior design and decorating professional based just across the river in Waltham. I work with Newton homeowners on rooms that feel layered and livable rather than staged: living rooms that get used every evening, bedrooms that feel like a retreat, kitchens and dining rooms that hold up to real family life.
HOW I WORK IN NEWTON
Everything is hourly, which means the scope is up to you. Some Newton clients bring me in for full-service design — space planning, furniture, window treatments, lighting, art, and installation, start to finish. Others want something narrower: a color consultation before painters arrive, help choosing tile and finishes for a remodel, or a single afternoon to rework a room that has never quite come together.
Being so close by matters more than people expect. I can stop by to check a paint sample in the afternoon light, meet your contractor on site, or be there the day the sofa arrives.
A RECENT NEWTON PROJECT
Before we started, this room was where coats and shoes landed and where the dog napped on the loveseat. The owner wanted something else entirely: a room of her own. She loves to read and wanted a space that felt luxurious rather than left over, somewhere she'd choose to spend an evening. She doesn't usually go bold, but she knew she wanted to try something different this time, so we leaned into a richer, more layered palette than she'd lived with before, built the seating around reading, and added a bar cart so the room works just as well at nine at night as it does on a Sunday afternoon. She uses it all the time now. See the full Newton project in the portfolio.
